The snow is gone! When I woke it was 57°F outside and raining. Fog lay thick upon the ground, rising off the rapidly melting snow like dry ice vapor. Eerie. That was this morning. Now the temperature is falling fast. It will be in the teens tonight and I will be wrapped in flannel and working on the first sleeve of my cardi.
Today was our first day back to lessons. I think my children and I have been missing the steady productivity of our learning routine. Even though I spent most of the day on the phone arguing with a customer service department, it was still a good day. Hooray for books, paper, pens, music, plants, birds, maps, and Brussels sprouts!
Easy Brussels Sprouts
4 cups fresh Brussels Sprouts
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup onion, minced
3 tablespoons butter (or a splash of olive oil)
Boil or steam sprouts for 3 to 5 minutes (tender-firm). Drain. Sautee garlic and onions in butter over medium heat. Add Brussels Sprouts and sautee for 2-3 minutes.

We began lessons again today too, I am so thankful for the structure it allows. Now I might actually remember what day it is instead of thinking everyday is a Saturday.

We began lessons on Monday too. My youngest was actually looking forward to it as she said that she she likes to have a plan of things to do each day - I'm sure that her enthusiasm will wear off soon, but I am taking advantage of it LOL.
ReplyDeleteWe love brussel sprouts too! We pretty much prepare them the same way only we add a dash of lemon juice at the end.

I think we might be twins, because I LOVE brussel sprouts. I slice them thinly and gently stir fry them in some oil....so simple and delicious. We had the snow, then rain, and then warm and now freezing bitterly cold. What a roller coaster of a ride in weather--keep warm!

ReplyDeleteWe had torrential rain this morning till lunch time. The main road into town is closed because of flooding. But then this afternoon we had amazing sunshine and blue skies but I think we'll have to have a few dry days before it subsides. I'm glad I was working at home.
