Photos of our favorite place to walk |
The moon is magnificent tonight, a bright lantern, the full Hunter's Moon. Earlier, when it was still rising in the eastern sky it looked enormous and glowed orange like a pumpkin.
I've been thinking this week about the things people say to be societally correct, things like: "no matter what their choices, parents are doing the best they can" and "you can't legislate morality," etc., etc. Those statements sound noble, loving and inclusive, but they are not true. It might make people feel better to hear these things, but it won't help them to be better. The things that have been the hardest for me to hear, and have challenged me the most, have led to the most growth.
This afternoon I read another chapter in The Woman In White--oh, what a story! I will be sorry when this one ends--I'm really glad that it's six hundred pages. And, I casted on for a very simple knit that I am calling a "Fair Day Shawl". It's going to be just a wide tube of garter stitch. That's it. I think it will show off the hand-painted, baby alpaca yarn to its best advantage and be a very wearable accessory. I plan on doing more knitting, reading, and walking in the woods this weekend. Maybe some baking, too. : )
It all sounds very wonderful! (did you hear we're getting a nor'easter on Thursday?)
ReplyDeleteHi there, Lisa! I hadn't heard about the nor'easter--sounds like we're in for a cold, wet Thursday. Thank you so much for you kind comment. : )
DeleteI think people think they are doing their best. Most aren't doing their best, if that makes sense. I find that now parents allow their children to scream during movies, concerts and even meals without bothering to think of others.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful place to walk, similar to mine :) Our leaves are mostly down as well and it's a little sad, this month is going way to quickly.
